In addition to the humectant blend found in all of Lily Petals' bar soap, Heavenly is packed with skin loving ingredients like oatmeal, goat's milk, honey and chamomile. Designed for a friend suffering from eczema we decided to pack it full of all of the healing ingredients that we could. Colloidal oatmeal is made by grinding oat grain, into a fine powder. It’s considered an emollient, a substance that softens or soothes the skin, because it packs fats, proteins, vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients shown to benefit the skin. In fact, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) officially categorized colloidal oatmeal as a skin protectant in 2003. Goat milk is rich in fatty acids and cholesterol, which make up a large portion of the skin membrane. A lack of these components in your skin can lead to dryness and irritation. Furthermore, the milk is a good source of vitamin A, a fat-soluble vitamin shown to have anti-aging properties. Finally, it’s a good source of selenium, a mineral shown to support a healthy skin membrane. It may even improve psoriasis symptoms like dry skin . Honey's beneficial properties include; it's antimicrobial, it prevents the growth of certain bacteria, it's a humectant, absorbs moisture from the air, it's an antioxidant, by destroying free radicals, antioxidants on the skin will help protect the skin from sun damage and help it look younger longer. Honey soap is great for dry or damaged skin. Because of its antimicrobial and antioxidant properties, raw honey helps kill bacteria that may cause acne and will help skin heal faster. Honey also adds to the lather, giving you a nice bubbly soap bar. Chamomile having similar antioxidant properties also is used to reduce redness and blemishes. It can even relieve skin irritations like eczema, psoriasis, and rosacea. Your skin will fall in love with the rich lather and mild exfoliation with ingredients full of natural oils.
